- Write the book.
- Don’t stop until you get to THE END.
- Join a writing group. (I belong to the SCBWI.)
- Read books in the genre you want to write.
- Learn about plot.
- Revise. This will require more sitting down and writing.
- If you get stuck, open a book you love and start reading. The way to get unstuck will appear.
- Revise some more.
- If you get stuck again, imagine what kind of music your character loves, and start a new Pandora station.
- If you want to be a great writer, never stop repeating steps one and two.
